PVD coating film for tools such as scissor, shear, clipper:

PVD process is designed specifically for coating highly polished mold surfaces such as ones used for optics, lenses, reflectors, etc. This technology allows the deposition of hard, thin-film, PVD coatings onto surfaces with optical quality polishes. Our Replikote™ coatings do not diminish the optical qualities of mold finishes, they replicate them. These coatings are thinner, harder, denser, and more lubricious than other plating processes.

Many of the steels used by the injection molding industry such as P20, 4140, as well as H13, 17-4, and 15-5 have the benefits of being fairly easy to machine, easy to polish, and having a good resistance to fractures. However, these materials are all limited in their resistance to abrasion and coefficient of friction. These limitations require some sort of surface treatment in order to achieve optimal performance and life: this is where the PVD coating film truly shine.

PVD COATING process is available in the following coating compositions:

  1. (TiN) This optical quality Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating provides excellent abrasion resistance & lubricity, and is the first choice for most molding applications.
  2. (CrN/CrC) This optical quality Chromium Nitride/ Chromium Carbide (CrN/CrC) coating protects against corrosive gases generated during some molding applications.
  3. (TiN/TiCN) This optical quality Titanium CarboNitride (TiCN) coating provides increased abrasion resistance beyond TiN coating, and works well in many slide applications.
  4. (DLC) This optical quality Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating provides the highest hardness and lowest coefficient of friction of all  coatings.


The PVD coating equipment comes with all facilities, control systems and auxiliary appliances for the deposition of many metals on many substrates.

It’s equipped with the newest Ion Bombardment (plasma) option for preparation and pre-treatment of the part to be metalized: through the Ion Bombardment application it is possible to increase the adhesion onto the substrate of the metal deposited. Ion Bombardment process is applied directly in the same cycle of metalizing, before the metal deposition phase. The automation software and the systems guarantee maximum uniformity and quick operation.

  • 1 (one) multi-spindle satellite workpiece rotating system, which can be moved out of chamber integrally,  stepless speed regulation, positive and negative rotating

1. What is PVD coating?

Physical Vapor Deposition or PVD, is a term used to describe a family of coating processes. The most common of these PVD coating processes are evaporation (typically using cathodic arc or electron beam sources), and sputtering (using magnetic enhanced sources or “magnetrons”, cylindrical or hollow cathode sources).  All of these processes occur in vacuum at working pressure (typically 10-2 to 10-4 mbar) and generally involve bombardment of the substrate to be coated with energetic positively charged ions during the coating process to promote high density. Additionally, reactive gases such as nitrogen, acetylene or oxygen may be introduced into the vacuum chamber during metal deposition to create various compound coating compositions.  The result is a very strong bond between the coating and the tooling substrate and tailored physical, structural and tribological properties of the film.
